Islam in Hong Kong!

The history of Islam in Hong Kong dates back to as early as the mid-19th century when the first Muslims came from South Asia as soldiers in the British Army. With time, businessmen also came with soldiers and the British Hong Kong government allocated land for these Muslims to build mosques and cemeteries for their community.

Today Hong Kong boasts a vibrant Muslim community with well over 250,000 members. There are many Islamic organizations engaged in working for Muslims in Hong Kong and in spreading knowledge about Islam. There are also some Islamic schools where children are taught about religion alongside their regular courses.
