About Jumma at HKU!

Each Friday MSA organizes Jummas for its members. Due to issues of space and clashes with classes, we have two Jummas. However if a holiday falls on Friday, or if it is the exam period, then only one Jumma is held.

Check on the right to learn where and when the next Jumma will be held.

Khutba and Leading Prayers

Jumma Timings

  1. Timings: 1.00 PM
    Venue:
    Kadoorie Science Building

  2. Timings: 2.30
    Venue: Prayer Room

Prior to the Khutba, we have a short speech in English on some Islamic topic by which we hope to spread knowledge about Islam amongst our members and keep ourselves afresh with the remembrance of Allah. The opportunity to deliver this speech is open to all members - you can register using the link below.

While for the fisrt Jumma an Imam from trustees comes to campus, the second Jumma is led by a student. Once again this is an opportunity open to all our members. Those with a good knowledge of Quran are particularly encouraged to come forward.

For both the speech and for leading the Jumma prayers, register via this link:

Volunteers Welcome!

Organizing Jumma requires some man-power. The location for Jummas is not fixed and varies weekly depending on availability of rooms. MSA has some long prayer mats/carpets which it takes to the prayer location prior to the Jumma. For this purpose, volunteers are needed. There may be other assistances required for Jumma as well, for example guiding a new Imam to the prayer venue. If you would like to help with organizing Jumma, please use this form to register yourself as a volunteer with us.
